Error After Install of V3.0

description

After uninstalling V 2.0 and installing 3.0, ClassBuilder 3.0 will not run. It throws this error

Microsoft Visual Studio

Error: this template attempted to load an untrusted component 'ClassBuilderWizard, Version=2.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d66ed855fe72ec20, Custom=null'. For more information on this problem and how to enable this template, please see documentation on Customizing Project Templates.

Looks like the 3.0 does not properly register itself and remnants of V2.0 are stuck in the registry.
Any Ideas?

Hi yousaid,

Did you uninstall the previous version before installing 3.0? Can you verify that ClassBuilderWizard 2.2.0.0 was removed from the GAC after the uninstall?

If both of those things were done, I would guess that Visual Studio didn't properly run its update after the uninstall. Try this:
After you uninstall the previous version, locate devenv.exe on your hard drive and run this command from the command prompt: "devenv.exe /setup" (without the quotes).

If you would like more information about that command, please see:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ex6a2fad(VS.80).aspx

That will reset all installed packages. After that command completes, you should be able to install 3.0.1 (the latest release) without issue.

Please keep me updated on this issue.

Thanks.

GREAT JOB, it works now !
The new build fixed the issue on both systems. You can now close this issue. I have one question that is

UNRELATED.

I noticed this line in the generated class file:

VB

Dim newEx As System.Exception = New System.Exception("From Save. See inner exception.", ex)

Specifically, I am refering to " See inner Exception". What exactely is it referencing?
This line only occurs in tables with Foreign Keys. Is there an easy way to use a related table? Eg.
Products Table has Category Id as a foreign key. But I want the category name to be rendered in a dropdown FROM the CATEGORY table.
Any Ideas?
Thanks again and GREAT JOB !
